Falling on Sand

It is natural that children get injured while playing.  When they fall on the cement flooring, there will be severe injuries but when they fall on the sand there will be no injuries.  When children fall on the cement flooring, their speed becomes nil fast. Therefore there will be much force on the person who falls down on the cement floor.  But when a person falls on sand, his speed will not become zero fast and thus there will be much lesser force on the body.  In this way there will not be much injury.  This is the reason why sand is used in long jumps.
